Row to the beat.
RowBeat builds Apple Music playlists matched to your stroke rate, so the beat you row to is the beat that is playing.
Coming soon to the App Store. RowBeat is in testing. For questions, or to hear when it launches, write to support@rowbeatapp.com.
How it works
Tell it your stroke rate
Pick the rate you want to hold and how long you plan to row. RowBeat searches the Apple Music catalog and assembles a playlist whose tempos line up with your rhythm. That includes musical multiples, so a 100 BPM track is a natural fit for a 25 spm piece: one stroke every four beats.
Connect your RowERG
Pair a Concept2 PM5 monitor over Bluetooth and your live numbers appear on the player: elapsed time, distance, stroke rate and both 500 m splits. The figures come straight off the monitor, so the app always agrees with the screen in front of you.
Row
The player rotates to landscape when you do, for a phone sitting in a cradle. Lock screen and headphone controls work throughout, and your metrics keep updating with the screen off. Finish, and a summary shows your distance, time and average split.
Built with restraint
- No account. No sign-up, no password, no profile. Apple Music playback is authorized on your device.
- No tracking. No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers of any kind.
- Your rowing stays yours. Metrics from your erg are shown on screen and never leave your phone.
- Honest matching. When tempo data is thin, the app says so rather than quietly serving a worse playlist.
What you need
An iPhone and an active Apple Music subscription. A Concept2 rowing machine with a PM5 monitor is optional, and adds live metrics while you row.
